You are far too easily pleased.

Grace and peace to you dear friends,

Today I wanted to go deeper along the lines of what I said yesterday. These are a few things that I have to keep reminding myself of and I thought you might find it helpful as well, so enjoy.

To start with we as a people are far too easily pleased and generally think so small even when weighty eternal matters are involved. Our prayer life, if we have one, can be so shallow we barely get our feet wet. So what does God's word say I need in order to be drowning myself in His gracious answers to my prayers. Let's start by seeing some promises from our God on this.

"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalms 37:4
"...I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name," John 16:23b
"...Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." John 16:24b

Now I know I don't have to say this to most of you but just to be clear, these promises only apply when we are asking for things that honor and glorify God. When we are asking for things that work together to bring about God's plan and purpose in our lives. It's just not possible to be self serving and God exalting at the same time. So ask yourself, which category do most of my requests fall into?

How often do we pray for insignificant stuff and for things that have no eternal significance? Then we wonder where God is and why He's not answering our prayers. Do you want a fulfilling prayer life? I do to and well, it's right there in the passages above. BUT, you have to be willing to pursue the things of God, desire those things that bring Him the most honor and praise in your life.

Here's a good place for us to start, "Lord help me to desire the things of You. Help me to see the world around me through your eyes." HE WILL help you to do this. So if you've made the decision and long to get God's Word into your Life, ASK FOR HIS HELP TO DO IT! I promise you that is a prayer request He wants you to ask because He wants His Word to be in you. It's the only place where we can go to learn what it is that God wants for us. And there we will find all the answers we need as well as the wisdom and knowledge necessary to live victorious lives for Him.

"Delight yourself in the LORD" by joyfully treasuring all that God is for you in Jesus Christ. Trust also in the name of Jesus as the only means of access to the Father. Rejoice because "you will receive""whatever you ask in" His name. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Complete my Joy by fulfilling your calling and walking in the truth of the Word of God.
For the Joy of Your Faith,
Teagan
