For the Honor of God?

Grace and peace to you dear friends,

"One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.  For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.  For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:5-8

I think it would be a good meditation for us to ask ourselves, "why do I set aside days "in honor of the Lord"? There have been times for me, I know, when the day has rolled around and I have felt as though my heart couldn't be farther from Him. I'm thinking specifically here about those of us who attend regular "Worship services" but I think the principle can be broadened to many areas of  our Christian life.

Are you "fully convinced in [your] own mind" that you are doing it for the Glory and Honor of your God? If not, then why are you doing it?

For the Joy of Your Faith and the strength of your convictions,
Teagan
