How sharp is your Sword?

Grace and peace to you fellow Soldiers,

Today we're going to follow on the heels of the last post, where from Ephesians 6:10-16 (which I incorrectly labeled as Eph. 5:10-16) I claimed that the power to slay sin was in our treasuring God and His Word as the source of truth. So lets continue with the next verse. Prepare to sharpen your blade.

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" Eph.6:17

Paul also makes reference to this helmet in 1Thes. 5:8 where he calls it "the hope of salvation as a helmet".

If Satan and or temptation is getting in your head and causing you to doubt or be anxious then you haven't put your helmet on. Faith in God's Word is what protects us. Hope in a sure Salvation that cannot be shaken will render those strikes to the head pointless and ineffective. The verse above also makes reference to our only offensive weapon, the "Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God". If you don't believe in or trust in your sword, then you might as well be naked and wielding a wet noodle. IF you don't have any confidence in your sword, as you strike out at the prowling lion when he comes after you then your armor will be useless because it's all founded upon the same thing, the Word of God. If we will not trust in and have faith in, the unchanging, everlasting Word of GOD we will be defenseless against the the schemes of the devil, easily deceived and made tools of his twisted purposes.

A firmly grounded faith and trust in the Bible as the clear Word of God is our only hope. It is everything for us that is needed to keep us safe and protect us from the sin of disbelief and doubt.
Fear not my friends for by the grace of God we all have hope for His word IS SURE and true. So pray for more of Him today in His Word. Seek Him while He may be found my friends and hold Him close as you treasure His words deep in your heart

"Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. Brothers, pray for us." 1 Thessalonians 5:23-25

For the Joy of Your Faith and the strength of your blade,
Teagan
