Let him rain coals on the wicked.

Grace and peace to you my friends,

This morning I received an email requesting prayer for a person and their family who are in a violently dangerous situation. I read the details in the email and as I finished I caught myself uttering "why Lord?" Following that thought I immediately remembered yesterday's post that I put together about the justice of God ultimately prevailing. As I thought about that idea I began to pray for this family and a few others in similar situations. When I finished I opened up my Bible to the next Psalm that I was going to be reading today and was delighted to be confronted with a passage that reinforced yesterday's theme, as well as go perfectly with what the Lord had put in my thoughts this morning.

The LORD is in his holy temple;
        the LORD's throne is in heaven;
        his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.
    The LORD tests the righteous,
        but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
    Let him rain coals on the wicked;
        fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
    For the LORD is righteous;
    he loves righteous deeds;
        the upright shall behold his face.
"
Psalm 11:4-7 ESV

God will not be patient forever with the evil doers in our lives. It is a promise from the Word of God that if they will not repent they will surly pay an eternal price for their deeds.We also know from Scripture that when ever God's people are in painful, hard distressing times it is an opportunity for them to demonstrate the measure of their faith and the sincerity of their heart. God has told us that our character and faith are refined through suffering. Yes, the wicked will perish and yes, for a time many of us will suffer under their deeds but look at the reward promised to those who patiently endure. He has promised that "the upright shall behold his face." I can hardly imagine that day, wow. What a day of celebration that will be, all who have endured in Christ will finally behold His presence and all who have earned it shall suffer eternal condemnation for their wicked ways.

It hurts to see loved one's suffer at the hands of unrighteous villains but remember that in the end Ultimate Truth, Ultimate Justice and God's Good Will shall prevail. As for us who stand by having no means to intervene, we are called to pray, pray for the hurting ones and do not forget to pray for those who persecute unjustly.

For the Joy of Your Faith,
Teagan
