A sure Refuge.

Grace and peace to you my friends,

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
"
Psalm 46:1-3 ESV

Friends, we all face stormy trials in our lives. Though many try, no one will be able avoid it, so the only way to reasonably deal with them is to be prepared for them. Knowing that they are coming we should do all that we can to be ready. The only way for us to victoriously persevere through the coming storms is to seek out the only reliable refuge and according to God's Word that is Him alone. Before the trials hit we need to already have established our reliance upon Him for strength and comfort. The Bible repeatedly refers to God as our refuge and shelter. What benefit is that shelter from the storm, if we wait until the floods and tornadoes are on top of us before we go looking for it? Shouldn't we be seeking safe refuge before the storms get here.

In order for us to experience God's promises of comfort, strength and confidence we must be in His shelter, taking refuge there, before the storms hit. We must be in His Word my friends, learning of His ways, growing in the knowledge and understanding of who God is for us in His Son Jesus Christ. Speak to Him, confess our need of His grace and mercy. Rejoice in Him, for He is not only able but He is faithful, faithful to fulfill all that He has promised us. Then along with the Psalmist we can joyfully declare, "we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling."

For those of you who haven't made your way to the eternal shelter yet, there is hope, so don't despair. Though you are being pummelled by the driving winds and waves, your Heavenly Father stands waiting with the doors to His refuge wide open calling out to you to come in and take shelter. May the grace of God open the eyes of your heart to clearly see your way home.

Whether your fighting to find your way back or your fighting to stay hidden in His shelter. Fight hard my friends, fight the good fight of Faith. Fight to keep your trust firmly planted in the truth of His Word. Fight to keep the eyes of your heart intently set on the beauty and worth of Jesus Christ.

For the Joy of Your Faith,
Teagan
