The Simple Gospel life.

Grace and peace to you my friends,

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." John 3:16-18 ESV

I think it fruitful for us to be reminded of how simple our beginnings were. Many of us at one point were completely overwhelmed by the goodness of God and, in faith, surrendered to His authority and rights over us by believing "in the name of the only Son of God", the name of Jesus. The Bible teaches us that all one needs to be saved is to repent and believe. It also says that the goodness of God leads us to repentance. Since the Bible makes this plain and uncomplicated for us, we need to remember it as we're trying to live out and share our faith with those around us. All we really need do is be genuine and let the world see the goodness of God and the treasure of Jesus Christ in us as we walk out our faith in the real world. Sometimes however, the simplicity of this Gospel message can cause us to trip.
I personally blew an evangelistic opportunity once because I failed to keep to the simple truth. With an arrogant heart, I judged the lost person in front of me as too arrogant and foolish to grasp the "complexities of the gospel" (some thing it is not) and as a result, never gave him a chance. This remains to this day a painful reminder that my job is merely to live out the simple truth of the Gospel message and let God judge the hearts of men, not me. For how much simpler can it get than for Jesus Himself to say, "whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life".

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight today dear Lord. And may the name of Jesus Christ be honored as I, by your grace, seek to walk out this simple Gospel life. Amen

For the Simple Joy of Your Faith,
Teagan
