Blessed are you if you do them

Grace and peace to you my friends,

"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them." John 13:14-17 ESV

As I read this passage this morning it reminded me of our call to humbly serve those around us that God has placed in our lives for us to love on like Christ. Jesus humbled Himself to the position of a lowly household slave in the washing of their feet and further the next day in the ultimate act of humility for Him, He went to the ugly death of the cross, all for the love of  His people. So we too are called to wholeheartedly give our selves humbly to the service of loving others just as our master did. The last verse up there plainly sums up my point for today. "If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them". The Bible makes a clear distinction between, those who know all the right stuff about God and Christ but don't let that knowledge change or affect their lives and those who live their lives always acting and being doer's out of the the knowledge they do have about God and their Lord Jesus. Like James says "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22

Are you following your master as a doer of the Word? Are you willing and ready to wash the feet of the undeserving today?

"blessed are you if you do them"

For the Joy of Your Faith,
Teagan
