Grace and peace to you my friends,
" The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers assail me
to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident."
Psalm 27:1-3 ESV
I love reading these kinds of passages in the Bible. It evokes in me the same response that a hero movie does, you know the kind I'm talking about. The kind where a strong fearless hero always wins, always saves the day, always knows what to do and always lives happily ever after. The reality is though that those kinds of hero's just don't exist, yet I think we all long for such a hero to show up in our lives from time to time. I think that it is just part of the way God made us, we are wired to long for a hero who can save us because we all know that only some one bigger, stronger and smarter than we are can get us out of this mess we've created. The hero we are wired to long for though is God Himself, yes He is that Hero and in reality He is infinitely more than any hero Hollywood could ever dream up. How many of us though would freely and willfully submit our selves to one of these lesser hero's yet stubbornly refuse the help from the ultimate hero Jesus Christ. The Word of God has so many great promises for us if we simply submit our selves to His saving power and authority.
I shall not fear, my heart will not be afraid for I am confident in my hero the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone has the power to save us from the greatest enemy's of all, Sin and Death. He is our stronghold and only defense against their powers. Through Christ we can have eternal victory and everlasting joy and peace, what a hero indeed.
Does your heart fear? Do you lack confidense? Purhaps you are waiting on the wrong hero.
For the Joy of Your Faith and the Hope of a Real Hero.
