As you look back,

Grace and peace to you my friends,



"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble
and gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way to a city to dwell in;
hungry and thirsty,
their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way
till they reached a city to dwell in.

Friends, as the year comes to a close let us not forget to make much of all that our Lord God has brought us through. I'm sure for some of you there were times of joyful happiness that stand out at first glance to mark the year. And I praise God with you for those. For others the year may be marked with painful scars. However you may think of the year that just passed, I hope that you are able to look back and see the Lord's guiding hand across the days. Because whether your soul was satisfied with delight or thirsty and faint, it is the Lord who purposely guided you through your circumstances to where you sit right now. He has you right where you need to be in order to keep you on the straight path that leads to our eternal city.
